Gerringong /Gerroa is a small town of around 4,000 people, located "Where the mountains meet the sea" about one hundred and twenty kilometres south of Sydney, Australia.

Gerringong was originally a dairying community, although tourism is now the major industry. However, our community still retains a friendly, village feel.Durning the last 10 years the town has grown rapidly and this is expected to continue.

One of the founding principles of Gerringong Sunrise Rotary Club was to have a successful mixed gender club, and we think we have achieved that. We have excellent proportions of both men and women and great benefits in fellowship arise from this. Women have held many offices in the club, including president.

Another of our original goals was to work closely with the community. Each Australia Day we join forces with Rotary Club of Berry-Gerringong and Gerringong Lions Club to run family activities at Werri Beach.

Our monthly market is an ongoing opportunity to show Rotary in action, and all Gerringong district residents look forward to the annual Street Parade, held in December. This year it will occur on Saturday 20th December, 2014, to coincide with our monthly market, so it should be a great day for everyone to come and visit Gerringong.

The proceeds from our fundraising activities, support both local and international charities and also fund many local youth programs. During 2015/16 over $58,500 was raised and distributed to various Rotary projects and local community service groups - not bad for a small club with 44 members. [more]
